Join us via Zoom for the Los Altos Chamber, Government Affairs meeting as we review the State propositions with Matthew Jacobs, Community and Government Relations Manager, Kaiser Permanente.Matt joined Kaiser Permanente in 2011 and manages community and government outreach in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties, working with many public, non-profit and private organizations throughout his territory. In this role Matt serves on many local boards and commissions on behalf of Kaiser Permanente including the Peninsula Partnership Leadership Council (the Big Lift), SAMCEDA’s Public Policy Committee, and the Community Health Reform Advisory Committee. Matt is also on the executive board of the San Mateo Area Chamber of Commerce and sits on multiple local transportation advisory committees.
Prior to Kaiser Permanente, Matt worked as Chief of Staff for then San Mateo County Supervisor Rich Gordon working on community issues throughout San Mateo County ranging from fixing potholes to health policies. Before moving to Gordon’s office in 2006, Matt worked in the public policy and international trade sections of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce.
Outside of work Matt is currently on the San Mateo Parks Foundation Board of Directors. Matt was also the president of the University of Michigan Alumni Club of Silicon Valley from 2008 through 2013 and Secretary of the Redwood City Library Foundation Board from 2008 through 2015.
Matt has a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from the University of Michigan and a B.A. in Spanish and Political Science from Washington University in St. Louis. Matt lives in San Jose with his wife Cari, their sons Nolan and Graham, and Cari’s cat.
The Los Altos Chamber Government Affairs Committee studies, analyzes & formulates positions on issues affecting the Los Altos business community, makes recommendations to the Board of Directors on public policy positions, monitors government actions & communicates chamber positions to appropriate officials to encourage positive actions, attends city council or commission meetings and expresses chamber opinions.
