Book Launch with Jenna Waldman and Erica J. Chen

Join author-illustrator duo Jenna Waldman and Erica J. Chen on Saturday, February 4 at 11am as we launch their joyful picture book, Purr-Im Time. In this happy, rhyming romp, a group of exuberant kittens get into some feline mischief as they celebrate Purim. Jenna and Erica will read and sign copies of their book, which can be purchased online or at the event.

A group of kittens celebrate the Jewish holiday of Purim by baking hamantaschen, delivering treats to their friends and neighbors, wearing costumes and parading, acting out the story of Queen Esther and Haman, and playing carnival games. The book includes an explanation of the Purim custom of giving mishlo'ach manot, small gifts of food to family, friends, and those in need. It also includes instructions for a mishlo'ach manot craft–a box to hold the Purim goodies.

Jenna Waldman is the author of Sharkbot Shalom and Larry's Latkes. Jenna lives with her husband, two boys, and three cats in the San Francisco Bay Area. Erica J. Chen is a Chinese-American illustrator currently based in California and Nova Scotia. She enjoys creating whimsical, character-driven illustrations and is particularly interested in stories that promote inclusivity, tolerance, and understanding.
