An Evening of German Vocal Music Karen Buck & Matthias Baumhof
MOUNTAIN VIEW–Community School of Music and Arts (CSMA) in Mountain View presents the first performance in its free Community Concert series: Karen Buck & Matthias Baumhof: An Evening of German Vocal Music. The performance will be held in Tateuchi Hall on Saturday, August 31 at 7:30pm at the Community School of Music and Arts, located at 230 San Antonio Circle in Mountain View. This concert is open to the public. Seating is limited; please arrive early. Doors open at 7:00pm.
Soprano Karen Buck (CSMA Faculty, voice)
and pianist Matthias Baumhof are a husband and wife duo. They will be performing German art songs, with Karen singing vocals and Matthias accompanying her on the piano. German art songs, also known as “lieder,” are traditionally written for a singer with a piano accompanist and were mostly written in the Romantic period. The most well-known composers of lieder were Franz Schubert, Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms. A lighter side of the program will include selections from operetta and musicals.

In keeping with CSMA’s mission to provide Arts 4 All, Community Concerts are free and open to the public. The Community Concert Series is supported by the Applied Materials Foundation and the Los Altos Community Foundation. The official media sponsor for the series is Classical KDFC radio.
