From the Board Chairman  ~ 2008

We are blessed to live in a wonderful part of America, with perfect climate and we should be thankful for the delightful ambiance of our small village communities of Los Altos and Los Altos Hills.

Many annual community events have become traditional. The Chamber of Commerce sponsors the annual Los Altos Fall Festival in October and numerous community organizations offer a variety of other outstanding events. These include the Rotary’s Art in the Park and the Kiwanis Pet Parade in May, the Los Altos Village Association’s Art and Wine Festival in July and the Festival of Lights Parade that kicks off the holiday season.  Other organizations such as the Los Altos History Museum, Sister Cities, Friends of the Library, Hidden Villa and the Los Altos Community Foundation host a variety of activities which help give Los Altos a reputation for excellence.

My wife, Maureen, and I have lived in Los Altos for 39 years and did not get involved in the community until about ten years ago, but since becoming active we have really begun to more fully appreciate what a great community in which we live. 

The Los Altos Chamber of Commerce is one of the most active and responsive of any I have experienced.  We have strong and viable committees that work tirelessly to represent our businesses, such as the Government Affairs Committee and the Business Round Table, to make sure our community of Los Altos is the progressive city we all desire. We are here to help and welcome everyone’s input.  We encourage you to become involved.

Please support our local merchants. They need our help to enable them to be successful and profitable in this tough environment.  Shop locally in our wonderful downtown, along the El Camino Corridor, Village Court, Rancho Shopping Center, Loyola Corners, Woodland Plaza and Foothill Crossing. They all deserve your support and we either use them or lose them.  In today’s competitive marketplace, it is very important to support your local businesses. We want to keep them, so we must help in any way we can.

I encourage everyone to use this annual community guide and business directory as handy reference manual. You will find that it is full of helpful community information and business references.  The advertisers support this publication and I hope you will in turn support the advertisers as well as all of the chamber members listed in the directory.
