the Board Chairman ~ 2010
The Los Altos Chamber of Commerce is proud to present the 2010 Community Guide and Business Directory. In addition to our member directory, you will find useful information about the communities of Los Altos and Los Altos Hills.
The mission of the Chamber has been, “to encourage, and promote businesses and to stimulate a vibrant economy in Los Altos and Los Altos Hills”. There is no greater time of need than right now! Many businesses within our community have been greatly impacted as a result of our slumping economy. Not only have our businesses suffered, but this has had an effect on our city’s sales tax revenues, real estate market, and the general attitude and climate of business within our community.
The Chamber was established to bring together the business and professional interests in Los Altos, so that collectively they can promote a healthy business environment. The chamber promotes and advances the civic and business interests of its membership to improve commerce and build a better community in which to live and work.
It is important to recognize that we can all have a greater impact on economic recovery by bonding together and working collectively to promote business within our community. The Chamber has taken the leadership role in bringing together businesses, non-profits, city government, community and many other individuals to address the challenges that we currently face.
The Chamber’s Government Affairs Committee actively represents business interests before the Los Altos City Council and the Los Altos Hills Town Council. The Chamber sponsors many events which include the annual Business Expo, Business Roundtable, SCORE Counseling, Member to Member Discount Program, Fall Festival, State of the Cities Luncheon, B2B lunches, Business Success seminars, Annual Business Awards, After Hours Mixers, City Map, Golf Tournament and many other programs, too numerous to name.
A large part of the Chamber’s success is a result of its strong leadership and many volunteers. As president of the Chamber, Julie Rose has provided professional leadership and guidance with the assistance of Gayle Carter as Chamber Executive Assistant and Tammy Serna as Bookkeeper.
It is with great pride that I serve as the 2010 Board Chairman. The entire Board and I look forward to working together with you so that we can create a healthy and vibrant climate for business in our community. Please keep this Community Guide and Business Directory handy in your home and office, and please support your local businesses.
